What’s New for the Month of September 2025
We have brought exciting updates to SmartBus and Rosterz this September, designed to make school bus and employee transportation management more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly. From enhanced tracking and communication features to smarter student and parent management, these improvements simplify daily operations, improve real-time insights, and give administrators, employees, and parents greater control and visibility.
1. SmartBus Key Updates
1.1 Conflict Student Visibility in Trip Assignment
Assigning students to trips just got clearer! Now, conflicted students are highlighted and prioritized for easier trip management.
Student List Sorting
Conflict students (already assigned to overlapping trips) are listed at the top, while non-conflict students appear below. Each group is sorted alphabetically by student name.
Color Coding & Notes
- Red highlights students with trip conflicts; default color for others.
- Updated note in the Student Trip Information screen explains conflict handling clearly:
(i) Conflicted students in red cannot be added without removing them from the other trip.
(ii) OK button only adds non-conflict students.
Benefit: Quickly identify and manage conflicts, improve efficiency during trip creation, and ensure accurate student assignments without affecting other functionalities.
1.2 Enhanced Multi-Parent Management
Managing parent information just got simpler and more structured! Now, multiple parents for a student can be added, viewed, and managed individually.
Parent Entries
- Add up to 3 parent entries per student using the new Parent Details popup.
- Fields include: Name, Photo, Gender, Email, Mobile Number, Relationship, App Access, SMS Alerts, and Verification method.
- Only App Access and Delete are editable from the main tab; all other fields are updated via the popup.
Validation & Access
- At least one parent entry is mandatory.
- Duplicate mobile numbers or emails for the same student are not allowed.
- App login is permitted only if App Access is enabled.
- Bulk upload and update now support this new structure with clear error messages for invalid entries.
Reflection & Tracking
- Parent details reflect across Student Overview, Trip Checkpoints in Live Tracking, Reports, and Driver App views.
- First added parent info is displayed by default, with others accessible via settings.
Benefit: Streamlines parent management, improves app access control, and ensures secure, accurate handling of multiple parent records.
2. Rosterz Management Key Updates
2.1 Temporary Stoppage Point Change
Monitoring employee trips just got more flexible! Now, employees can set a temporary stoppage for upcoming trips without affecting future trips or other employees’ locations.
- Change Stoppage
A new “Change Stoppage Point” icon allows employees to pick any checkpoint as their temporary stoppage. - Confirmation & Updates
Employees confirm the change before saving, and the trip’s ETA and live tracking update automatically. If no change is made, the original stoppage remains.
Benefit: Adjust on-the-go for smoother trips while keeping default locations intact and ensuring secure, accurate tracking for all.
